A must have! March 27, 2008 Tanya Gravenor (Brighton, UK) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is my first review on amazon, but I feel that potential purchasers should know what this book is like before buying it. The book was a great purchase and worth every penny, it was recommended to me before I started my initial training for Sussex Police, and I am so glad I brought it. It explains in terms that are easy to understand what is expected of you when appling for the post of constable, through your training and what the job will actually be like. There is a chapter containing real life experiences from officers at all ranks which gives an honest view from people that you may actually work with. For me this was a great help as I do not come from a police background and only had my imagination and medias representation of the police service. When you start your training as a student officer you will also have basic knowledge of areas that are covered in the book, for example the history of policing. The book is clear, consise and an easy read, do buy it if you are thinking of applying as it also gives you advice of what to expect during the application process, which helped a lot, as at first I found it all quite daunting.
