Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Response to "A Customer"   November 5, 2008
Goredon Browne (London)
Given the subject of this text, a certain overlap with the Companies Acts is inevitable. However, the previous reviewer's assertion that the reader might just as well read a statute book is just that, an assertion. He or she fails to mention the 46-page table of case references or the numerous chapters which contain few references to the Acts, such as "Legal Personality: Its Consequences and Limitations". This is not primarily an academic text, but is, by its own admission, "a textbook for practitioners and those involved in the day-to-day administration of companies". As a practitioner, I find this text to be a useful reference and starting point for research. Had I been aware of this book as a student I would have bought it, but not in the expectation that it would be a collection of academic essays.

1 out of 5 stars disappointing narrative of company law legislation   January 13, 2000

The words 'analytical' and 'discursive' probably had not entered into the minds of the respected authors when they set about constructing this work. Most people of average intellect could go about rephrasing the company law statutes, but few would have the bare faced cheek to request a sum of .. for the honour. May I suggest Blackstones Company Law Statutes as of similar content, but a price tag of around half the punch.
