Conveyancing for dummies February 21, 2003 kit (notts United Kingdom) 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
IPC will have to forgive me for taking their format in vain and maybe they will when they learn that most of my IT skills are due to their efforts and that I have done so to make it plain that this 'Which' guide is something that every house purchaser should read even if they're not going to conveyance themselves. Buying a house is almost certainly the scariest financial transaction most people will undertake in their lives and the fact that the process is submerged in legalese and complication does nothing to make things better. This guide takes a step by step approach to what is happening during the purchase and what all the searches and whatnot are for. By the end of the book I would have had a go at doing my own paperwork with a fair degree of confidence as much more of the 'hoops' you have to jump through had started to make sense. As it turned out I chose not to travel that route but the experience was in no way wasted as I now speak at least a related dialect of 'solicitorese' thanks to 'Which?'.
very comprehensive and easy to follow. Gives examples. June 27, 2001 djgoulty@bigfoot.com (norfolk, uk) 43 out of 45 found this review helpful
The book is split into well defined areas, each is very comprehensive and written in an easy to understand format with examples of how to complete forms and to produce your own contracts. If even covers what to do should things go wrong and will save you hundred's of pounds by doing it yourself.
