Disappointing June 12, 2007 Chrissy (Cornwall, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I chose this book because the title and back cover imply that the book will take you through how to do your own conveyance. I confess that I have not read the book because I am returning it, but on looking through the contents and the relevant chapter to sell a house, it provides very little useful information. This book is probably ok for background info, but I would think that like me, most people considering buying this book would be looking for the right information to enable them to do their own conveyance. Inside the book it actually advises that the book should be used in conjunction with a solicitor-defeating the object somewhat!
Not suitable for DIY conveyancing April 10, 2006 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I want to echo the earlier review of this book which appeared after I had ordered my copy. The book does not live up to its description of being "ideal for anyone who wishes to buy or sell a property without the use of a solicitor or licensed conveyancer". It is a general guide and does not provide sufficient detail or advice for DIY conveyancing.
Don't bother if you want to do DIY conveyancing! March 9, 2006 Deborah Harris (Lewes, East Sussex United Kingdom) 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
This book is not what it purports to be - it says on the blurb it's for people wanting to do their own conveyancing, but when you read it (after buying it!) it starts out with how you should always use a professional. It doesn't give anything like enought information to enable you to do your own. Its only possible use is to understand what the processes involved are in general - it certainly isn't a detailed guide.
